![]() The scores take into account the quantity and depth of experiences in the application. ![]() Each applicant is reviewed by 3 members of the committee, who score each applicant utilizing a rubric. They review the applications and recommendation forms fully. Next, the applications are divided amongst the selection committee, which is comprised of staff across the university. We confirm applicant’s NAU status, credit hours, and ensure all applicants have a recommendation form submitted. Upon submitting your Gold Axe Application and after the deadline, we compile all applications and recommendation forms. These awards will be presented at the Gold Axe Award Reception, co-sponsored by the Associated Students of NAU (ASNAU), Office of the Dean of Students, and the Office of Alumni Engagement. The seniors who are selected for their contributions will receive the prestigious Gold Axe Award. ![]() The award honors those who are committed to excelling in life outside of the classroom through leading student organizations, providing service to the community, involvement in their academic college, and more. She is active in the PTA at Gorrie Elementary.Gold Axe Awards Recognizing outstanding contributions to the NAU communityĮach semester, Northern Arizona University recognizes seniors who have made outstanding contributions to the university and community. Panzarella is active in the education of children and enjoys speaking to children about veterinary medicine. Panzarella assisted in the design of footwear worn by the rescue dogs in the 911 aftermath and founded Paws For Peace, a non-profit organization that raised money for abandoned pets post 911. She contributes her time to Veterinarians Without Borders and volunteers internationally for animals in need. Panzarella enjoys exploring Florida, spending time with her family, marathon running, international travel, scuba diving, playing piano and is learning to play the guitar. Their door revolves for many needy pets, from rabbits and cats to hedgehogs! When she is not at Bayshore Animal Clinic, Dr. Drewes have two sons, Noah, age 9, and Luca, age 7. Jacob Drewes, from southern California to South Tampa. Panzarella joined Bayshore Animal Clinic as a veterinarian and owner in 2013. Panzarella also spent 3 years as a staff veterinarian at a feline specialty practice in California and loves cats! She served as a board member for the Santa Barbara and Ventura Veterinary Medical Association. Panzarella worked in emergency and critical care from 2001-2013 at 24 hour referral and specialty hospitals in Colorado, Atlanta and Ventura, California. To further her education she completed a one year medical and surgical internship at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in Akron, Ohio. Panzarella attended Ross School of Veterinary Medicine, with her fourth year clinical rotation at University of Missouri. She spent her senior year abroad at Swansea University in Swansea, Wales. Panzarella received her bachelors degree in 1997 from Colorado State University, with a major in microbiology and a minor in music.
